Dennis Kiegel's First Kingfish
After dealing with the grief and stress of my husbands mothers death
we decided to take a break from all the funeral planning and relax out
in the Gulf fishing for a few hours.
Now my husband ,Dennis, is the man who can stand next to the guy pulling
in all the big ones and not even get a nibble. He snaps rods and looses
leaders like nobody else I know. Our oldest son and I were fishing with
him and trying to be light hearted for him whether we caught anything
or not.
We found a decent spot about 9 miles off of Hudson Beach area and began
pulling in some good keeper Mackerel. Within minutes Dennis's line began
to sing and out it went. Now at this time he was using a Tyger leader
with only a ten pound test. After what seemed liked eternity he finally
got the fish close enough to see that it was a large King. Right away
he started barking orders, grab this, do that, get the gaff!. Our son
got the gaff and with one beautiful swoop had the King on board in seconds.
Thank the Lord! cause if he had missed we both would have been swimming
back to shore.
Here is the picture of Dennis and his catch plus the others he caught
that day. As you can see he is beaming! The day turned out to be his best
fishing day ever. Now just between us I know his Mom was there helping
him. But we won't tell.
